Chain Reaction backs World Bicycle Relief

Chain Reaction Cycles has pledged its support to the World Bicycle Relief fund, set up in 2005 in the wake of the Indian Ocean Tsunami to provide assembled bicycles to students, healthcare workers and entrepreneurs .

Chain Reaction Cycles will promote the work of World Bicycle Relief in 2013 by offering marketing support to the charity, and by making a financial commitment through their events programme.

“We have been inspired by the work that World Bicycle Relief has done in recent years and felt that we could offer them support by partnering. As well as endorsing their work, we’ll be communicating information about WBR to all of our customers through our website and social media outlets.” Says Simon Cordner, PR manager at Chain Reaction Cycles.

He adeed: “We have also agreed to offer free bike checks and mechanical back-up at a number of our events this year in return for donations to World Bicycle Relief our chosen global charity. These will include the Fat Tyre Weekend in Fort William, Scotland and Early Riser Festival in the New Forest, England.”

World Bicycle Relief distributes its Buffalo Bicycles through work-to-own or study-to-own programs. In addition, the charity also sells bicycles to non-government organizations such as UNICEF, private corporations and individuals in need of reliable transportation. This work has enabled an estimated 614,000 people to reach clean water, education, healthcare, markets and jobs.
