Cannondale launch ”lightest XC bike industry has ever seen”

Cannondale has released details of the 2015 F-Si hardtails, set to be available from CSG UK in four versions, satisfying various budgets.

Dubbing the bike "the lightest XC race bike the industry has ever seen", Cannondale seem confident they’ve developed something special, with the bike boasting the shortest chainstays (429mm) of any xc race bike currently available. The builds also sport the new Lefty 2.0, the SAVE 2 seat, and new ‘System 29’ Geometry.

A large frame, with hardware (seatpost clamp, mech hanger etc.) tips the scales at 960 grams.

“While we pride ourselves in building the most cutting edge frames in cycling, our real advantage is in our System Integration approach to bike design,” said Bob Burbank, global general manager for Cannondale. “The 2015 F-Si is for those XC Racers and hardtail purists who are seeking next level handling, speed and efficiency.”

In response to the XC World Cup’s courses becoming more technical and often being won on the climbs, Cannondale’s engineers have revamped the frame to maximise power output. Keeping all this in mind, the designers have utilised System Integration and a fresh frame geometry to deliver better handling, increased traction, and speed.

The bike’s ‘Asymmetric Integration’ drivetrain has been moved 6mm outward via a new Hollowgram spider to alleviate any clearance issues due to the new chainstays and is matched by an all-new offset rear end. This means a stiffer, more durable rear wheel as well as a more agile ride feel, according to the label.
