The official launch of Britain's only airport-based bike shop takes place today and bikebiz.co.uk is travelling to Manchester to stand on runway two for the official photocall

Bspoke cycles opens at Manchester Airport

The shop has actually been open since January but it’s taken this long for Manchester Airport to fire up its PR machine.

Bspoke Cycles is operated by Threadgold’s, the long-standing Manchester IBD.

Up to 100 guests are expected at the official opening, including the local MP and the local press.

Management at Manchester airport wants to encourage staff to commute by bicycle instead of by a bike shop – with extensive servicing facilities – is all part of the airport’s alternative transport strategy.

More details when I get back from Manchester.
