The Boomerang V2 Anti-Theft device is available for pre-sale on Indiegogo, with products estimated to ship in February.
The device uses GPS and cellular tracking technology, meaning if a bike is lost or stolen the owner can track it down or call the police.
Cyclists attach the Boomerang to their bike, which allows it to communicate directly with GPS satellites every four seconds.
A Verizon LTE 4G wireless radio sends this GPS data to Boomerang’s cloud-based server and the server communicates with the device and app.
If the bike is tampered with or moved, the user is notified via the app and they can then alert the police of its location.
Boomerang also features a crash detection feature, as well as a panic button that will allow cyclists to alert their designated emergency contacts configured in the app.
