Boardman Performance Centre receives planning permission

Boardman Bikes has announced that planning permission has been granted for the new Worcestershire based Boardman Performance Centre. BikeBiz revealed news of the HQ back in September.

Work will now commence on the cutting edge facility, which will include the brand’s head office, a cycle-specific wind tunnel, a physiology testing suite and an activity testing area.

A full concept store with a café will also feature in the plans. The company says that the diverse new destination has been designed to offer a unique customer experience for cyclists of all levels and skill sets.

Construction of the 18,000 square foot site is anticipated to begin in the spring, with a grand opening scheduled for Winter 2017.

Chris Boardman commented: “This project has been a dream of mine for more than six years and I’m delighted the finishing line is now in sight. The possibilities for what the centre can deliver are truly amazing; in fact, I don’t think it’s overly dramatic to say it will be revolutionary.”

Boardman Bikes managing director Andy Smallwood added: “It’s been a long time in the planning but following our close collaboration with Wychavon Council, we are now ready to take the performance centre project from concept to reality.

"The combination of world-class facilities and unique customer experiences will make the new site a true destination for cyclists from across the UK – to say we are excited about this new chapter in the Boardman brands history is an understatement.”
