The Bike It review of cycling-to-school successes in Autumn 08 has been published and is full of inspirational photos & stories

Bike It goes from strength to strength

Bike It is a proactive cycling scheme run by Sustrans. It was seed-funded by the bicycle industry through the Bike Hub levy. Starting with four officers, it now has 41. These 41 officers are responsible for getting more children cycling to and from school.

Bike It has been successful at increasing levels of cycling at participating schools. Sustrans wants to expand the scheme still further, almost doubling the number of Bike It officers, spreading their influence across the UK.

Bike It now has a variety of funders not just Bike Hub but it was the bike trade which breathed life into the scheme. Bike Hub contributes £250,000 a year to the scheme, money wholly raised from bike suppliers and bike shops.
