The Association of British Cycling Coaches (ABCC) has unveiled the Pedal Power 2018 Conference programme.
Olympic mountain biker and coach Oli Beckingsale and senior coach and ABCC fellow Dr Gordon Wright will headline the one-day event on 18th November in Coventry.
Beckingsale will present on event preparation from his personal experience riding for Great Britain in three Olympics and now as a coach, its application to riders, and Wright will talk about nutritional and exercise strategies to protect and strengthen ageing skeletal muscles.
The day also includes workshops on recovery protocols, high intensity interval training (HIIT) and annual training plan assessments.
Workshop one, ‘Recovery Protocols; What Really Works?’, will be a practical review of recovery options along with the pros and cons of each.
Workshop two, ‘How to Get More from HIIT’, will aim to help delegates build efficiency into training programmes using HIIT protocols.
Workshop three, ‘Annual Training Plans’, will be primarily aimed at student coaches, to provide guidance and consolidation of knowledge in relation to the final Annual Training Plan assessment.
The programme starts with presentations in the morning, followed by the ABCC’s Annual General Meeting, a hot buffet lunch, and then the workshops.
The event will be held at The TechnoCentre, Puma Way, Coventry CV1 2TT.
