European Cycling Industries (ECI) has launched the 2026 Bicycle Industry & Market Profile (BIMP), the annual reference publication providing the latest market intelligence on the European bicycle industry.

Based on 2025 data, the report offers a comprehensive overview of production, sales, trade, employment and market developments across Europe. This year’s edition is the first to be published by European Cycling Industries (ECI), following the merger of the Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry (CONEBI) and Cycling Industries Europe (CIE).

The 2026 BIMP shows that the European bicycle industry has continued its transition towards a more balanced and demand-driven market. Following the exceptional surge of demand during the Covid boom, supply chain disruptions and subsequent market correction experienced in recent years, the latest data points clearly show the stabilisation of the industry. Manufacturers have continued to adapt production, inventories have progressively normalised, and imports have picked up.

Headline figures from the 2026 BIMP include:

  • Total bicycle production in Europe: 10,820 million bicycles and EPACs in 2025 (no change relative to 2024)
  • Total bicycle sales in Europe: 15,618 million bicycles and EPACs sold in 2025 (-2,6% compared to 2024)
  • Total sales value in Europe: EUR 18,252 billion in sales turnover in 2025 (−0.84% compared to 2024)
  • Direct employment in Europe: 67,076 in direct bicycle and parts & accessories manufacturing (increased by 1025 compared to 2024)

Beyond these headline indicators, the report provides detailed analysis of the European bicycle market, including production, sales, and employment, as well as import and export flows, and national market data. As the industry’s most comprehensive annual data resource, the BIMP helps understand the evolving European bicycle sector and make informed strategic decisions.

“The 2025 data confirms that the European bicycle industry has continued its transition from an exceptional period of market volatility towards a more balanced and resilient footing. While businesses have adapted to changing demand, the long-term fundamentals of our sector remain strong. Cycling is not only an essential part of Europe’s mobility transition, but also a strategic manufacturing industry.

One of the most important questions raised by this year’s data is how Europe ensures that future market growth also strengthens its own manufacturing base. As demand stabilizes, maintaining a competitive environment that allows this industrial base to thrive should be a European policy priority,” said Paul Walsh, CEO of European Cycling Industries.

The 2026 Bicycle Industry & Market Profile is now available for purchase.
