After two years of development, Wolf Tooth has launched what the brand is calling “a new era of clipless performance” with the introduction of its CTRL, ALT and DEL pedals.

Each pedal is purpose-built for a different style of riding, yet all share Wolf Tooth’s precision machining, class-leading lightness and a larger platform area, for unmatched power transfer and control, with the brand highlighting that’s “something you won’t find in standard SPD-compatible pedals”.

As a headline overview: CTRL are trail-focused, and ideal for bike packing, ALT are designed as the go-to XC pedal, and DEL is focused on today’s gravel racers. The full range of pedals is compatible with SPD cleats.

Unlike most clipless pedals that only contact the shoe through the cleat, Wolf Tooth’s design maximises shoe contact across the entire platform – the result: Wolf Tooth claims “increased power, confident control and consistent performance on every ride”.

Adjustable Q factor

Uniquely, every model across the three pedal range features an adjustable Q factor, allowing riders to fine-tune their fit for optimal comfort and efficiency.

This is becoming more and more relevant, as riders switch from road, gravel and MTB machines. Road bikes typically use a 145-150mm Q factor, whilst gravel-wide setups can be up to 155mm, and MTB setups can be as wide as 170mm.

Aligning all your bikes closely will mean harnessing greater pedalling efficiencies. Riders can set the Q factor on the Wolf Tooth clipless pedal range, as standard, to 51, 55 or 59mm with just two hex keys. Additional 2mm shim kits are also available, to really dial in the Q factor – a proper game-changer for bike fit.

Pedals in detail

The CTRL pedal is designed to give “unrivalled control and support on all-mountain trails”. At only 328g, it’s been “crammed with features to enhance performance, on the gnarliest singletrack, with exceptional control”.

The ALT pedal is geared towards riders seeking “absolute connection and efficiency on XC and gravel rides”. Its low profile and light, 295g weight allow it to “deliver the perfect balance of platform support and power transfer”.

The DEL pedal is made for riders focused on “speed and stability when the competition heats up – giving road pedal feel and power transfer in a 2-bolt cleat design”. The DEL weighs just 217g per pair.

In the UK, Wolf Tooth is distributed by Saddleback.
