Bamboo Bicycle Club, a leader in sustainable DIY bicycle manufacturing, has just opened its new workshop in Toulouse, France.

Opened on May 1, this expansion into France marks a significant step towards Bamboo Bicycle Club’s aim to revolutionise eco-friendly bicycle manufacturing.

The London-based Bamboo Bicycle Club has consistently been at the forefront of utilising bamboo – a sustainable and high-performance material – for bicycle frames.

Founded in 2012 by James Marr, Bamboo Bicycle Club has evolved from a personal hobby to a worldwide initiative.

Led by expert bamboo builder Guillaume Denneulin, the business is confident that its new Toulouse workshop will emulate the progress already made in the UK and the Netherlands.

Bamboo Bicycle Club’s workshops offer the chance to not only create an innovative bespoke bike made of bamboo, but to progress a deeper understanding of bicycle engineering and sustainable craftsmanship.

The Toulouse workshop marks the continued expansion of Bamboo Bicycle Club’s global presence.

James Marr, co-founder of Bamboo Bicycle Club, expressed excitement about the new venture. He said: “Our dedication to local production and sustainable practices is now firmly established in Toulouse, where we aim to replicate the success of our London and Amersfoort workshops.

“Under the expert guidance of Guillaume Denneulin, we look forward to offering the finest bamboo bike building experience and fostering a community of knowledge-sharing”.

Over the last 10 years, Bamboo Bicycle Club has been kept busy engaging in team-building for corporations, educational projects for schools, and global research collaborations.

Now, the business is looking to expand the reach of its sustainability ethos even further with the launch of a new partnership scheme.

The scheme will offer support to existing bike businesses with running their own frame-building workshops.

It will provide comprehensive training on how to build bamboo bikes and teach others, and deliver ongoing support, encompassing everything from the workshop setup to the bike design software.

Offering other businesses the chance to kick start their own sustainable transformation is one step closer for Bamboo Bicycle Club towards the goal of cultivating a widespread community of bamboo bicycle builders and enthusiasts, and contributing to a more sustainable future for cycling.
