A Berlin inventor has shown the BBC a pedal powered motorcycle, believed to be the first of its kind.
The E-Rockit relies on pedal input to move, but can convert power 50-fold, enabling the bike to reach up to 50 mph. What’s more, the bike is powered by an electric motor, meaning there’s zero emissions.
Inventor Stefan Gulas told the BBC: "The way you control the speed of the motor is through pedaling. I think the technology could be appreciated among a variety of transport modes, it needn’t stay on this motorcycle."
It’s speedy too. Off the mark, the half-motorcycle, half-pedal cycle beat cars and other bikes.
A video demonstration can be seen here.
