Zyro to exclusively distribute BreezeBlockers

Zyro has partnered with new British brand BreezeBlockers to bring its innovative aerodynamic bike mounted shields for competitive, leisure and commuting cyclists.

The lightweight, waterproof and windproof shields for handlebars and cleated shoes have been scientifically tested at Durham and Teesside University.

BreezeBlockers ‘Road’ hand shields physically protect the hands with a barrier that helps keep gloves dryer and reflecting heat generated by the hand by the shield, creating a warm pocket of air. The shields divert wind over the hands, wrists and forearms, reducing wind chill, and also divert wind from the thighs, according to the firm.

“We know from our own experience that using BreezeBlockers hand and foot shields really do keep you warm and dry in all conditions, but we don’t expect you just to take our word for it,” said Matt Garnett, BreezeBlockers director. “We have conducted aerodynamic wind tunnel tests at Durham University and climatic wind tunnel tests at Teesside University to get the best out of our designs and demonstrate the benefits scientifically.”

Durham University’s aerodynamic wind tunnel tested the BreezeBlockers at speeds up to 60mph, while Teesside University’s climatic wind tunnel tested at -2°C wind chill factor, Garnett confirmed.

The shields start from £17.50 at retail. Installation and removal is quick and easy using reusable straps and mounting systems, also allowing for mounting of lights, computers and other accessories. The foot shields can be used underneath existing overshoes or used on their own.

Neil Mountain, Zyro’s UK brand manager, added: “We are excited to invest in BreezeBlocker’s range of 9 new products, which further complement our portfolio as the number one commuting and leisure P&A distributor in the UK. We are confident that this British-grown concept will be welcomed by UK consumers fed up with suffering from the wind-chill factor when they would much rather be enjoying their riding and that further products will follow in to the range. We have full stocks in perfect time for the winter sell-in – ready to stave off Britain and Ireland’s keen wintry conditions.”
