The Altura Trail – the longest purpose-built mountain bike trail in the Lake District – opened this week.
Sponsored by Altura, Zyro’s clothing brand, the 19km red grade trail cost £500,000 to complete. The trail, announced last December, saw its first 10 km phase open earlier this year in June.
Track facilities include the Cyclewise Whinlatter bike shop and hire centre, which is stocking Altura clothing and Cube mountain bikes, while also including a chill out zone.
"We are delighted for our Altura brand to sponsor the first mountain bike trail here at Whinlatter,” enthused Altura’s Ian Young.
“At Altura we believe in encouraging all types of riding and are especially proud to be associated with technical mountain biking such as this new red route, unrivalled in Lakeland area."
