Zyro signs up IRD, Soma and Izumi

Stock for all three of Zyro’s new brands – Interloc Racing Design (IRD), Soma and Izumi – is now available to UK cycle retailers.

“The success we’ve seen with MKS pedal sales, particularly the Track and Fixie pedals, has really turned us on to this market,” enthused brand manager Paul Caswell.

“Soma and Izumi are both respected brands and fit perfectly into the Zyro portfolio. Both Soma and IRD tyres are manufactured by Panaracer in Japan and the IRD brand addresses another growing sector in the market. Cyclo-Cross racing is going from strength to strength, it’s a sport that all the family can enjoy, young or old.”

California-based IRD manufactures quality bike parts, with Zyro picking up the cyclo-cross range of tyres. IRD’s Crossfire tyres are made in Japan by Panaracer and come in a range of colours with the proven Fire XC tread pattern.

Pitched as one of the coolest bike brands in the world, Soma has developed innovative product for the urban and fixie markets for years. Based in San Franciso, Soma has a huge range of bikes and accessories, but Zyro will concentrate on the brand’s tyre range – also made in Japan by Panaracer. The Some Everwear is considered among the most robust fixie tyres on the market, according to Zyro, coming in a range of sizes and colours.

Finally, Osaka, Japan-based Izumi is a long-established component manufacturer. Zyro is set to carry Izumi’s Fixed Gear chains, with chains an area the firm has specialised in since 1916.
