Zwift sees big update to ‘Watopia’ map

Alternative reality cycling platform Zwift has updated its online environment called ‘Watopia’ with an expanded map and addition to the fictional island.

The Mayan Expansion is the first unlockable part of Watopia Island. Zwifters are encouraged to reach level ten in the system, before they can freely access the ‘Mayan Jungle’. Those below level ten will still be able to access the new routes if selecting the ‘ride with friend’ option or through events making use of the new routes.

The expansion features several miles of fast, rolling terrain through ancient Mexico with terrain both above and below ground. Riders have the option of ridieng either the Big Loop, a 26.6-mile course that climbs the Mountain, winds through the Jungle, and finishes with a trip around the Volcano, the Road to Ruins, a 18.7-mile course taking a Watopia Flat Route variant, heading to the Jungle, and ending with a loop around the Volcano, or the Jungle Circuit, a 12.3-mile course for those who want to continuously ride or run the new Jungle course.
