Organisers of Yorkshire’s first major cycle expo have promised a feast of entertainment in October.
Cycle Expo Yorkshire will take place at Harrogate’s Yorkshire Event Centre from 12th-14th October and will feature a range of exhibitors showcasing the best in cycling equipment, tours and bikes, including Zyro Fisher, Canyon, Cannondale and Raleigh.
The expo is backed by some of the biggest names in cycling, from Olympian and four-time winner of the British National Road Race Championships Lizzie Deignan, to BMX champion Matti Hemmings and reigning UCI Elite World Champion Jack Carthy.
Charlotte Scoular of Cycle Expo Yorkshire said: “There is so much to see and do at Cycle Expo Yorkshire, there really is a feast of entertainment for all the family to enjoy.
“We’re so excited to be able to bring a wide range of cycling disciplines to the event and hope that we can get as many people as possible excited about cycling.
“Whether you’re a complete novice, budding amateur or a serious professional on two wheels, Cycle Expo Yorkshire will be a must-see event.
“With thousands of cycling enthusiasts and families expected to arrive in the region, we are proud to be adding another event to Yorkshire’s unrivalled cycling calendar.”
The programme includes the exhibition zone, the test track and demo zone, the kid’s activity zone and the women’s ride out.
The exhibition zone is a collection of the leading cycling brands in the UK, where visitors can try, test and buy the latest bikes, clothing and accessories.
The test track and demo zone is set in more than 250 acres of indoor and outdoor space, with five demo areas from a bespoke built woodland mountain bike track, to an e-bike test track, kids zone and main test track where visitors can try out all the latest bike models.
The kid’s activity zone, in partnership with HSBC UK Go Ride coaches and Little Rippers, will have activities throughout the show, with Go Ride coaches on hand to give hints and tips to kids.
The women’s ride out, in partnership with HSBC UK Breeze, is a women’s only ride to Wetherby and there will also be talks and advice on women’s cycling throughout the show.
On 13th October there will be the UK BMX Flatland Championships, hosted by founder of the UK Flatland Championships and triple Guinness World Record holder, Matti Hemmings, which will see pro riders battle for the title.
There is also the road circuit race, hosted by Chevin Cycles, where the UK’s best amateur cyclists will battle it out around a closed circuit race.
On 14th October there will be the Road Bike Rampage, the UK’s only live-action show to specifically perform freestyle tricks on a road bike, with five-time British and European trials champion Danny Butler will put a carbon fibre road bike through its paces.
There is also the Yorkshire cyclocross, where the best cyclocross racers in the UK will go wheel to wheel.
The event is a partnership between Welcome to Yorkshire and Leeds-based marketing and events specialists XSEM, both of which are advocates for boosting tourism and cycling in Yorkshire.
