Will a bicycle win the 2004 International Bicycle Design Competition?

The International Bicycle Design Competition, now in its eighth year, is organised by the Department of Industrial Technology, Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Republic of China with the award ceremony held at the Taipei trade show.

This year’s show was notably devoid of scooters, but that didn’t stop a scooter from walking off with the ‘best designed bicycle award.’

The purpose of the competition, argues organiser Jessica Nieh, is to "provide an opportunity for designers and manufacturers to push ahead with new designs and to internationalize their products, to promote bicycling as a popular sport and as an alternative form of transportation."
