The Why Cycle? website for newcomers to cycling has been given a new feature-set and a brand new look

Whycycle.com is revamped

Whycycle.co.uk is owned by Si Watts, a website creator who codes and hosts many bike-specific websites, especially for some of the UK’s biggest and best IBDs.

Whycycle was created in 2000 by Watts and Ben Cooper of Glagow bike shop Kinetics. It was the UK answer to BikesRNotToys.com, a US website of the time which aimed to give newcomers to cycling impartial advice on bicycle buying topics.

A huge strength of Whycycle has long been its forum, perfect for asking ‘newbie’-style questions.

There’s also an excellent ‘where should I buy a bike from?‘ section. Clue: don’t buy a BSO, a Bicycle Shaped Object. Buy a proper bike from a proper bike shop.

The bike jargon buster section has info on bike part names, similar to this bicycle anatomy video.
