Wheels for All conference bound for Leicester

The Curve Theatre in Leicester is the venue for the 2016 Wheels for All conference on Friday 20 May, bringing together everyone involved or interested in the inclusive cycling movement for a varied day of workshops, discussions and inspiration themed on inclusive cycling.

Cycling Projects director Ian Tierney said: “Our aim is to give our existing and potential stakeholders a full understanding of the potential and position of inclusive cycling within the cycling landscape.

“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to bring the Wheels for All family together in such a great central location. Leicester is a city with a long and varied cycling tradition and an exciting cycling future. The Curve Theatre venue is spectacular and is a perfect place for us to get together and share the excellence and innovation that exists in so many of our Wheels for All centres.”

The conference will focus on understanding and unlocking the potential of Wheels for All, as it continues to grow into a truly national network of opportunities for people with disabilities. Keynote speakers will be from Leicester City Council and their Wheels for All programme along with health commissioners, third-sector supporters and also an award winning international artist renowned for focussing on engagement.

A variety of workshops will be delivered throughout the day giving delegates information, advice and knowledge to support their local initiatives, or to help launch new centres and opportunities across the country

Sustainability will also be a key theme, with practical help on how to ensure ongoing funding for your centre. And lovers of the latest tech won’t be disappointed, with manufacturers and designers of inclusive cycles on hand to demonstrate their latest products and discuss the needs of end users.

The conference takes place on Friday 20 May from 9:30am to 5pm at The Curve Theatre, Leicester.
