Cycle retailer reveals sizeable expansion at its South Wales base

Wheelies doubles in size

Swansea-based retailer Wheelies is moving into new state-of-the-art premises for its warehousing and despatch teams.

The retailer said that the investment doubles the size of its Swansea base and will enable it to handle ‘the greater demand on operations as the online business continues to grow’.

The firm said it has ambitious plans to build its business in 2012. Beyond its beginnings as a Swansea Uplands bike shop, the family-owned firm has, over the past 20 years, become Britain’s largest insurance replacement provider for the cycling industry. Following the recent launch of a new website, the business said it is gearing up for increased direct sales.

"Wheelies has always been about momentum, we are passionate about our business and the products we sell," said managing director Keith Jones.

"We are proud to have seen our business grow here in Swansea, and the investment in a large modern warehouse will ensure we continue to deliver the products our customers want as efficiently as possible."
