Northamptonshire cycling mainstay Wellingborough Cycles has closed its doors, according to local sources.
The shop, which attracted a positive reputation in its local area, was successfully nominated as one of BikeBiz’s Top 20 IBDs in 2016, due to its “efficient and helpful service, in-depth expertise and comprehensive range.”
No official announcement has been made, but the brand’s otherwise active social media pages haven’t been updated since mid-January, and the brand’s official website now leads to an error page. BikeBiz reached out to the company for a comment, but did not receive a reply at the time of publishing.
The store was known for its specialist mountain bike offerings, and also offered bike fitting and training through partner company VeloElite. The company held a 4.9 out of five rating on Cyclescheme.co.uk.
The news comes just hours after BikeBiz reported on the liquidation of the company behind the Specialized concept store in Birmingham, having previously commented that they were simply “closed for refurbishment.”
