Some trendy bike shops have posh cappucino machines. A German coffee brand is about to get its own back by launching a range of own-brand bikes through its soon-to-open coffee shops

Wake up and smell the lube

Tchibo, the German coffee roaster, tea-blender and juice supplier and which also has 1000 cafes throughout Europe is planning to open some coffee shops in the UK.

As part of its corporate plan to increase its non-food offering, the company is to bring bikes into the UK for sale through its own outlets. Tchibo already sells Tchibo clothing and other software.

In Germany, the Tchibo stores sell a full-suspension alumiunium city bike with RST forks and SRAM 7-speed gears for 540 marks, less than £200.
