Vickers Bicycles has linked with Saville Row tailor Richard James to create a customised town bike, set to go on display within the designer’s store for the duration of the tour’s stay in Britain.
Precisely colour matched to a suit (seen below) from the Richard James SS14 collection, the collaboration is believed to be the first of its kind for Saville Row.
Each bike is handmade, to measure, in Great Britain from Reynolds 853 steel tubing and the finishing kit includes a selection of high-end components from Nitto, Sugino, Paul Comp as well as Brooks England’s new Cambium organic cotton saddle. Sporting a two-speed automatic hub and coaster brake, the bike’s the semi-upright position means that you should be able to ride it comfortably in a tailored suit jacket. While the bike’s happy to be cruised round city streets, Vickers say it has a deceptive turn of speed too thanks to narrow tyres (700c x 23mm) and sporty gearing.
See the Sundown Town at Richard James Bespoke (19 Clifford Street, London W1S 3RH) from Monday June 30th until Sunday 3rd August.
The Sundown Town will retail at £2,499 and is available for pre-order at atelier@vickersbicycles.co.uk
