Velorution and Eastway kit out Radio 1 DJ for Sport Relief challenge

London bike retailer Velorution and urban bike brand Eastway Bikes have teamed up to provide Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw with all the equipment he needs to complete his upcoming Sport Relief cycling challenge this Monday 17th March.

Starting at 7:00am, Grimshaw will cycle an Eastway FB2.0 on a turbo trainer for twelve straight hours outside the London BBC Studios in a large, transparent box. Grimshaw’s challenge forms part of an attempt from BBC Radio as a collective to run, swim and cycle 25,000 miles – the circumference of the world – all in support of Sport Relief.

“The challenge set for BBC Radio and Nick Grimshaw in aid of Sport Relief is truly fantastic and for a great cause, so we were obviously delighted to help out," said Gretta Cole, press officer for Velorution. "We pride ourselves on serving London with the very best cycling products, so Nick couldn’t be better equipped to complete his ride other than on a bike inspired by riding in our nation’s great capital, Eastway.”

Oli Coxhead, Eastway Bikes brand manager, added: “Twelve hours non-stop cycling is extremely tough going, even for the seasoned cyclist, so we have huge respect for what Nick is about to take on. The Eastway FB2.0 that Nick has trained on and will complete his challenge on was designed and built for long rides in the saddle, so he couldn’t have a better partner to conquer those miles!”

Velorution is based at 88 Great Portland Street, London W1W 7NS.
