Velo-city 2019 Dublin opens call for abstracts

The next edition of Velo-city Conference Series, co-organised by Dublin City Council and the European Cyclists’ Federation, will take place in Dublin, Ireland from 25th to 28th June 2019.

The conference has now opened the call for abstracts and is inviting experts from around the world to share their work, knowledge, experience and insights with a global audience.

Dublin hosted Velo-City in 2005.

“Velo-city 2005 proved a catalyst for cycling growth in the city – the number of cyclists in the city increased by 147 percent since 2005, but also the conference showed that cycling was a real and viable mode of transport for Dubliners,” said Owen P. Keegan, chief executive of Dublin City Council.

“Hosting Velo-city in Dublin in 2019 will accelerate the efforts by Dublin City Council and our partner agencies to further the development of Dublin as a world class cycling city.”

The theme of Velo-City 2019 Dublin is Cycling for the Ages. The conference vision is looking forward towards the cycling city of 2030. This theme focuses on encouraging cycling by people of all ages and abilities, young and old, male and female as part of their daily transport and recreation. The conference sub-themes are:

  • Technology, Intelligent Transport Systems and Data Analytics
  • Health and Social
  •  Environment & Infrastructure

The abstract submission process is open until October 22nd.
