Brighton-based eco-friendly clothing label Veleco has launched a Kickstarter page in order to fund a production run of new jackets and cycling shorts.
Aiming to raise £20,000 in just 30 days, the firm joins the likes of Loopwheel, Blaze Bike Lights, Plume, a cardboard bike and Silva’s detachable dynamo, who have all used the crowd funding site to get projects off the ground. As with all kickstarters, If the project falls short, no one is charged.
Johnathan Lewis, co-founder said; “We’ve come up with some fantastic options for people that support us on Kickstarter, including a new tailored cycling jacket available in lime green and black made from recycled polyester (that was once 12 plastic bottles), urban cycling shorts made from an organic cotton blend and a new range of carbon neutral cycling t-shirts and hoodies. And as a thank you to our supporters we’ve discounted the full range.”
Veleco launched late last year, pledging to only produce eco-friendly cycling wear and to support fair trade manufacturing sources.
Kickstarter is the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects; 4.2 million people have pledged over $641 million, funding more than 42,000 creative projects.
The firm, for a £5,000 pledge, are also offering bespoke clothing items tailored to yur club or shop’s preferences.
