USA Cycling promotes Chuck Hodge to chief of racing and events

USA Cycling has promoted Chuck Hodge to chief of racing and events.

He will lead USA Cycling’s support of cycling events, including the USA Cycling National Championships, elite racing calendars, event sanctioning, race director support, Local Association services, and officiating for all competitions.

Hodge, who most recently served as USA Cycling’s vice president of operations, joined the organisation in 2015 as technical director.

He has previously spent 25 years organising and assisting in the production of many races in the U.S, including the Tour de Georgia, Tour of Utah, Tour of California, US Pro Challenge and the 2015 Richmond World Championships.

In addition, Hodge is a UCI International Road Commissaire and member of the UCI Commissaires Commission.

Chairman of the USA Cycling board of directors Bob Stapleton said: “Chuck’s promotion elevates one of the most competent leaders in the American racing community into a role where USA Cycling’s most important customers and partners will receive the best possible engagement and support.”

Hodge said: “I am proud to take on a larger leadership role in an organisation which continues to evolve and restructure itself to fit the needs of its members.

“I’ve dedicated the majority of my professional life to cycling, and am thrilled to have the opportunity to make an even greater impact on the sport I love.”

Earlier this month it was reported that USA Cycling CEO Derek Bouchard-Hall would step down to become the new CEO of Assos on 1st January.
