UK enduro market boosts Met Parachute sales

Met has told BikeBiz that its ultra-ventilated full face helmet – the Parachute – has seen it’s greatest success in the UK market, outperforming other territories, thanks in part to a growing enduro scene as well as the Parachute’s innovative design.

Pitched as the lightest full face helmet certified to American ASTM F1952-2032 standards (the only authority which certifies full face bicycle helmets), the Parachute comes in at 700g (medium).

Met team rider Justin Leov has been sporting the Parachute on this year’s Enduro World Series and wrapped up the season with a spot on the podium, taking third place in the overall standings after the race at Finale Ligure. UK stocks are being replenished this week, in order to keep up with high demand.

In other Met news, Briton Steve Cummings is the latest to join MTN-Qhubeka, following the signings of Tyler Farrar, Matt Goss and Edvald Boasson Hagen. 33-year-old Cumming won the Tour Mediterraneen in February, and is moving on January 1 after three years with BMC.

The South African Pro-Continental team, sponsored by Met Helmets made their grand tour debut at this year’s Vuelta a Espana where Met also took the chance to debut their new ‘Drone’ aero helmet, the 100th helmet model developed since the company was founded in 1987. The Drone will be available in the UK from February 2015 and will retail at £249.99.
