Eddie Eccleston is to close Ideal Bicycle Ltd. of St Helen's and will become a consultant to Professional Cycle Manufacturing Ltd., the West Midlands bike plant of Nick Thake's PCM group.

UK distribution of Ideal changes to Professional

Stockists of Ideal bicycles will now become customers of PCM.

"Our trading policies won’t change," Eccleston told BikeBiz.com.

Eccleston will work from Cradley Heath in the West Midlands. One member of staff is being made redundant thanks to the move.

Ideal is a Greek bicycle brand, founded in 1926. The brand was originally brought into the UK by Concept Cycles, with Eccleston working for Steven Walsh. In February 2000, Eccleston led a management buy out of Ideal Bicycles from Concept.

The absorption of Ideal UK into PCM takes force today.
