Action Medical Research’s charity efforts will be boosted next weekend with the sign up of a number of TV doctors adding their efforts to the charity-driven London to Paris bike ride.
Named Team GP, the quartet includes doctors Dawn Harper and Pixie McKenna, presenters of Channel Four’s popular no-holds-barred Embarrassing Illnesses and Embarrassing Bodies series. They will be joined by Dr Sarah Jarvis from BBC1’s The One Show and Radio 2 and Dr Rob Hicks from The History Channel and BBC Online.
The TV doctors will be among the 600 cyclists finishing a London to Paris bike ride for children’s health charity Action Medical Research.
The team have been training hard and will be riding the Viner Gladius road bike, supplied by UK distributors Company Z. Team captain Dr Dawn Harper said: “Since starting to train for the ride, I’ve really been bitten by the cycling bug, so I’m thrilled to be riding such a great bike. Swapping my tired, heavy, old mountain bike for the Viner Gladius has been a bit like switching to riding a thoroughbred instead of a cart horse! It’s an amazing machine.”
The team has also had support from Specialized, who have provided kit and helmets, and GPS specialists Garmin, who have supplied their Edge 705 cycle trainer.
