South Derbyshire School Sport Partnership and Total Cycle Assist have joined forces to offer Bikeability course youngsters extra safeguarding.
Total Cycle Assist has offered all Bikeability course youngsters and parents their cover, which – in the event of an incident – sees them provided with a 24 hour helpline, bike repair, brand new bike replacement, private health care and legal support for £2.
Total Cycle Assist MD Richard Williams said: "Children and bikes go together, but it’s also a huge worry that they might get hurt on the roads. The Bikeability scheme is absolutely fantastic, it’s the old cycling proficiency that I remember as a boy. We’re more than happy to add even more safety to the package by covering the youngsters and their bikes just in case there’s and accident.
"As a parent myself I know that when your child is out of sight, you worry. We can’t stop that happening, but we can give some assurance that in the event of an incident there’s around the clock help at hand."
Total Cycle Assist is planning to roll out the offer across all Bikeability projects and is encouraging schools to get in contact.
