ToB sees Genesis Zero frame debut

Genesis has chosen the Tour of Britain to unviel its new Zero frameset, as ridden by Team Madison Genesis as the race kicked off in Wales yesterday.

The new frame range consists of three complete bikes and two framesets. Of the complete sets, the range is made up of the Zero Z.1 at £1,799.99, the Zero Z.2 at £2,099.99 and the top-of-the-range Zero Z.i at £2,999.99. In addition, the Zero framesets will be available in Madison Genesis team replica colours or raw carbon/black for £1,099.99.

While the frame is visually identical to last years’ model, Genesis have employed a higher grade 30/40-ton high-modulus uni-directional carbon to drop approximately 120 grams from last years’ model. This means that the bike is now comfortably sub-1kg for a size medium with all hardware (960g). Even with such a substantial weight-saving the frame remains robust and durable. Genesis has also stuck to the principle of offering the same frame quality throughout the range which means even entry level models are the same spec as the team edition. 

The forks on the frame have vastly slimmed-down and introduced tapered fork legs with a truncated aero profile to drop weight down by 90 grams and improve comfort. This year’s model uses the same crown profile as 2014 that blends with the dropped downtube, so can be retro-fitted to last year’s frame, should one desire.

The Madison Genesis team will complete the new Zero Z.i bike builds using Shimano’s flagship Dura- Ace Di2 group-set and a complete finishing kit from PRO, specifically the top of the range carbon Vibe components. This will include saddles, handlebars, stems and Di2 compatible seat posts.
