The Gorilla Firm bike trade-in site launches for IBDs

A new website for the trade and private sellers to list their new and used bikes, parts and gear has been launched.

The Gorilla Firm is being pitched as an alternative outlet to eBay for selling surplus and ex-demo gear, targeting small independent shops. The site caters for the bicycle sector, as well as for surf and snow lovers.

Unlike some of its rivals, The Gorilla Firm doesn’t run auctions or take final value fees, and will be offering free listings until later in December this year. When listings are charged for, there will be a one-off fee per listing with a sliding scale for retailers looking to list multiple products, rather than percentage based fees.

The site includes space for retailers, bike mechanics, instructors and independent holiday vendors to showcase their services.

A spokesperson said: “It’s easy to use, and the concept is clean and simple – list it, sell it, sorted. The Gorilla Firm also gives retailers something positive to say to those customers who want to trade-in their used bike – don’t put it on eBay where they charge a small fortune and lose it amongst all the handbags, toys and garden furniture – sell it on The Gorilla Firm to people who have a real passion for cycling, and who know the value of what they’re buying.”

The Gorilla Firm exhibited at the NEC Cycle Show earlier this year and has begun advertising in UK bike magazines and increase its profile.

The firm said: “We’ve seen the traffic to the website grow quickly and increasing every week – a pretty good indication of the market out there for high-end new and second-hand cycling gear. We’re a husband and wife team with a passion for action sports and we believe in the concept. So get registered, then login and start managing your ads, it’s free! List it, sell it, sorted."
