Taiwan-based bicycle design comp gets 1180 entries from around the world

The annual International Bicycle Design Competition – sponsored by the Department of Industrial Technology of MOEA, Republic of China, and organized by the Taiwan Bicycle Industry R&D Center – was started in 1996, when only domestic designers participated.

Endorsed by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design since 1999, the IBDC provides an opportunity for bicycle designers, manufacturers and spoke-sniffers worldwide to create some truly wacky designs. Many are nothing new, some are too revolutionary to even contemplate making, most are plain daft. But some have potential.

This year the IBDC attracted 1180 registrations from 58 countries

The first round of judging has now taken place and twenty-four plans were selected. The evaluation jury was comprised of seven jurors, from the United States, Italy, France and Taiwan.
