The agreement with management company High Road Sports Inc. will enable Giant to increase its already close relationships with both the men’s and women’s T-Mobile squads.
Tom Davies, Giant’s athlete and promotions manager said:
"With a four-year agreement, Giant will now be able to foster long-term collaboration between its product development staff and these world-class athletes, working together to produce technologies that will eventually trickle-down to the retail showroom floor."
The 2007 TCR Advanced Team bike was designed with the help of three times world time trial champion Michael Rogers. 2008 prototype design work has already commenced and team testing will begin in early 2007.
Giant CEO, Tony Lo said: “Giant’s spirit of innovation, technology leadership and passion for cycling lives on with our renewed long-term partnership with T-Mobile. Real world testing by world-class athletes is an important step in Giant’s product development process, and our collaboration with the T-Mobile Teams give us feedback straight from the peloton to our designers and engineers.“
T-Mobile Team general manager Bob Stapleton, brought in to overhaul the team following the suspension and later sacking of star rider Jan Ullrich, said:
“We demand the best and most innovative bikes for our riders, and Giant’s proprietary technologies and manufacturing capabilities have exceeded our expectations the past three years."
