Bicycles by Design heads to fresh premises by the River Severn

Swallow frame builder swoops into new premises

Cycle retailer and frame builder Bicycles by Design, the firm behind Swallow and Landescape, has moved to premises across the banks of the River Severn.

Since the start of this week the firm has crossed the river to Coalport next to the Coalport Youth Hostel and its cafe.

With the National Cycle Network route 55 nearby, the new premises house Bicycle by Design’s showroom, sizing studio and offices on the first floor. The ground floor contains the Servicing and Assembly Department for Bicycles, Tandem and Wheel Building along with the Frame Building Shop.

Bicycle by Design also stocks Ridgeback, Genesis, Tout Terrain, Birdy, Airnimal. Co-Motion, Circe, Van Nicholas alongside own brands Landescape and Swallow.

Since 1981, under the Swallow brand, the firm has hand-built bespoke steel frames. In 2009 Bicycles by Design added made-to-measure hand-made aluminium frames under the Landescape brand and in 2012 complemented this with made-to-measure hand-made carbon fibre tandem frames.

The Swallow 953 was the winner of the ‘Best Road Bicycle Award’ at Bespoked Bristol 2013.
