1. Introducing the Essax shark saddle
It drew a few gasps when it was unveiled at the International Cyclefit Symposium at The London Bike Show – and then again when we posted it online. See what all the fuss is about here.

2. £250,000 of bikes stolen from Tri UK after London Bike Show
Tri UK suffered at the hands of thieves when they lost in the region of £250k of top end bikes, frames and triathlon equipment after the ExCeL show. The cycle world responded by spreading the word far and wide, but we’ve not heard of any recovery of stock, yet.

3. BikeBiz reveals the most influential people in UK cycling
Our BikeBiz Brit List 2014, in association with The London Bike Show, went live this month online and at a drinks party at the Fox at ExCeL, celebrating the movers and shakers of the industry. The full list will be published in a supplement in the next issue of BikeBiz, if you haven’t seen a copy yet.

4. Sturmey Archer dub indie band Kaiser Thieves
The new album from the Kaiser Chiefs made liberal use of some Sturmey Archer heritage designs. The band later said it was intended as a homage. Make up your own mind and see the artwork in our story here.

5. UCI top brass now favour ‘innovation & technology’
How long will be be until we see ratification of road discs? Or abolition of the 6.8kg weight limit? No one knows for sure, but the signs are becoming far more positive following the UCI’s first meeting of the year.
