Steve Worland made redundant by Future

Long-time bike testing journalist Steve Worland has been made redundant by Future Publishing.

"I’m back to being a freelance wordsmith on the lookout for interesting things to get involved with," said Worland.

He has been testing bikes – and writing brilliant articles – for Future for 20 years.

"I will still be a regular contributor to Future’s titles for the time being. But I’m free to work in other capacities too and I’m very capable of breaking old habits if a worthwhile new one presents itself.."

Worland said he is open to "general copywriting, other magazine work, consultancy work, basically stuff that allows me to continue working civilised hours as well as riding my bike for an hour or two most days."

Known for his prowess writing about mountain bikes he descibes himself as an all-round "bike nut" and doesn’t want to be pigeon-holed:

"Despite the fact that I’ve spent the last two decades writing mainly about mountain bikes, my interest in other bike types is equally rampant."
