Spray.Bike’s DIY powder-coat-style bicycle paint comes in 56 colours.
Now available to the trade (first stocks of the paint arrived prior to Christmas after two years in development), the paint goes on without the need for a primer. The matte finish can be polished up and can even cover stickers, BikeBiz was told at the London Bike Show.
The large cans (400ml) are priced at £6.95, the smaller 200ml cans at £4.95.
"It’s super easy to use," founder Gareth Williams Jones told BikeBiz. "You can sand it down and start again."
The EU-made paint is said to last ten years and was formulated in a collaboration between London’s Brick Lane Bikes, bike shop and bar Vicious Cycles Athen (run by Jones) and manufacturer Cosmos Lac in Greece.
Jones took BikeBiz through Spray.Bike-customed bikes, including a snake skin style bike created with "a can of paint and a string vest" (pictured below).
According to the official blurb, the range was created out of frustration with existing products which were hard to use and get a professional finish from. Samples were sent to Brick Lane Bikes for their opinion and from that point the trio worked together on the range.
The 56 colours are split across ranges, including the BLB London Collection, a Flourescent range and a Vintage collection (including nods to cycling brands no longer with us), among others.
