With winter apparel for AW25 utilising a variety of new materials, Sportful has joined forces with fabric innovators Polartec to launch the Fiandre 2 Jacket, using AirCore, described as a revolutionary material crafted specifically for cyclists.
Engineered to provide exceptional breathability, reliable weather protection and all-day comfort for real winter riding, AirCore defines the new Fiandre 2 Jacket, “taking cold-weather performance to the next level in a sleek, high-performing design”.
With the new Fiandre 2 Jacket, Sportful aims to “bring a new level of comfort and high performance to winter riding, being breathable, water repellent and windproof all at once, thanks to Polartec AirCore technology”.
This 300g material features two sides. Its soft, waffle-texture, nano-fibre inner surface is highly breathable and allows moisture and vapour to escape, keeping you warm and dry when you’re working hard. Meanwhile, the outer surface is windproof and water repellent, letting you ride in comfort when the weather is changeable or your route involves long stretches of descent.
Fabric technology in focus
For those not familiar with Polartec’s new AirCore fabric, the manufacturer calls it “the world’s first truly air-permeable laminate designed to keep you dry from the inside out”. In simple terms, the material is designed and engineered to “pull sweat away from the body and allow it to escape without trapping heat”.
Polartec AirCore is an air-permeable fabric technology that allows maximum breathability while protecting against the harshest winds. Designed to stretch for a full range of movement, the nano-fibre membrane keeps you dry from the inside by helping moisture and vapour escape faster, thanks to its 0.4 – 1 CFM, while repelling it from the outside.
For cyclists, Polartec AirCore uses breathability to maintain a dry microclimate and accelerate heat loss even during peak activity. This allows the Fiandre 2 Jacket to deliver excellent water repellency, packability, and versatility when and where you need it.
Critically, Polartec AirCore is also 100% free from PFAS-based chemistries and built with recycled materials.
