Spinning enthusiasts who usually drive to leisure centres and health clubs for exercise classes are being actively encouraged to take to two wheels during Bike Week (15-23 June).

Spinners urged to use the real thing for Bike Week

800 spinning coaches on the National Studio Cycling Register (NSCR) have each been offered 500 free ‘Come Cycling!’ leaflets to promote this year’s Bike Week. 1700 top fitness studios and health clubs have also been mailed leaflets, one million of which have been printed thanks to Government funding as part of the National Cycling Strategy marketing activity.

Bike Week co-ordinator Nick Harvey said: "Spinning is a great way to keep fit, especially during the winter when real cycling is less appealing. But far too many fitness enthusiasts drive to clubs when they could be using their bikes. This publicity in conjunction with the NSCR will help training coaches promote road cycling as the best ‘top and tail’ for a spinning session."

‘Come Cycling!’ leaflets are free to all businesses that want to promote Bike Week and
