'We strive to convince the customer that in the long run, buying cheap is often expensive'

SKS lauds cycle market performance

SKS has praised the continued buoyant performance of the cycle market in the face of continued tough economic conditions.

Speaking to BikeBiz, export manager Robert Schatton said: "Against the background of the year of economic crisis, where Germany’s main export industries – automotive and mechanical engineering – had to face high drops in turnover we are more than satisfied with 2009’s performance."

Schatton added that competition over price was an ongoing battle in markets across the world: "Due to the fact that we produce in Germany it’s a big challenge for us to compete with the low-cost products coming from Asia, especially in this [Eastern European] market. We strive to convince the customer that in the long run, buying cheap is often expensive."
