We've had BMX. Then there was KMX. Now there is SMX. The SMX ski-trike from Norway lets riders pull BMX-style tricks on the snow but has skis instead of wheels. It will be commercially available in Autumn 2006 and has just won the BrandNew Award at Europe outdoor trade show ISPO in Munich, due to be staged at the end of the month.

The BrandNew Awards are for young entrepreneurs.

For the 13th running of the awards, 171 entries from 25 countries were submitte

The winners get free stand space at the end of January show.

The award ceremony will take place in the ispo BrandNew Village at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 29th.

The overall winner is the North Legion SMX from Norway.

The SMX looks like a BMX trike, but has three stable short skis instead of wheels.

Riders can stop faster than with a snowboard, claims North Legion.
