See.Sense to launch new, cheaper ANT+ ready light on Kickstarter

See.Sense is to launch a new product on Kickstarter tomorrow. The ACE light will be smaller and cheaper than the Icon.

Teasers about the ACE say it’s "more intelligent" and "more affordable." The Icon currently sells for £64.99 and the brighter Icon+ sells for £79.00.

The ACE is equipped with ANT+ integration so can be controlled from Garmin EDGE cycle computers. It will also feature new mounting methods, including being clipped to jerseys or backpacks. There will also be an adapter mount for aero seatposts.

Delivering 125 lumens the ACE is said to have a 10-hour runtime.

The company’s Icon light is "smart" – it is packed with sensors, reacting to changes in ambient light levels and the road surface. It also collects anonymised data that cities can use to plan cycling infrastructure. See.Sense states that the Ace will also sport these electronics.

Featuring an all-new processing engine with 46 percent more processing power and new digital signal processing, ACE monitors its environment and the cyclist’s behaviour hundreds of times a second, says a company statement.

See.Sense manufactures in Northern Ireland.

The Kickstarter campaign starts on Thursday at 5pm. Backers will receive their ACE lights in Summer 2018.
