Scottish-based bicycle manufacturer Route Assembly recently completed the acquisition of Mango Bikes, a Northern Irish-based bike retailer focusing on online retail. The acquisition will expand Route Assembly’s product offerings and enhance its commitment to providing eco-friendly transportation options. It will also ensure the continued quality of Mango Bikes’ products and put them at the forefront of Route Assemblies’ reshoring initiatives.

Since its founding, Mango Bikes has provided bikes known for their “stylish designs as well as their affordable price tags.” The company’s mission aligns closely with Route Assembly’s goal of creating a more sustainable future, and the shared values of the companies were a major deciding factor in this acquisition.

“We are thrilled to bring Mango Bikes into the Route Assembly portfolio,” said Ian Byrne, CEO of Route Assembly. “Their innovative bikes, commitment to sustainability and cheeky voice make them a perfect fit for our company. Unfortunately it’s also a company that’s suffered from some negative reviews.” Acknowledging these reviews is a crucial part of the company’s strategy moving forward. “We are first and foremost a bike manufacturer. We take pride in the quality of our bikes, and we want to make sure we’re providing excellent quality across all of our brands. This means taking on board past customer reviews to improve the Mango Inventory.”

Route Assembly plans to integrate Mango Bikes’ product line into its existing offerings, providing customers with a wider range of bikes to choose from. One of the first projects that was started after the acquisition was an improvement to the Mango product line. With the recent completion of an in-depth bike configurator, customers are now able to handpick their bike parts and colours, or have their bike styled by an in-built AI to match a prompted theme.

The acquisition will also strengthen Route Assembly’s presence in the UK and international bike communities, improving its reach into new markets. Beyond market strength, the company is strengthening their mission of building a stronger bicycle community within the UK with the opening of a Mango Bikes & Pipedream Cycles concept space where members of the community can come together for custom builds, drink coffee and talk about all things bikes and beyond.
