Reba forks revamped. Revelation forks travel increased. 20mm thru axle now 40 per cent lighter

Rock Shox revamp ’09 range

Rock Shox has announced several improvements soon to be seen on their 2009 product. The ‘Maxle’ (20 x 110mm) axle has shed over 50 grams, making it 40 per cent lighter. A thinner aluminium axle body features, yet maintains durability and functionality. The axle will feature on both the new Revelation and Reba models, discussed below.

The Rock Shox Revelation forks will feature increased travel options, redesigned graphics and two axle options. The travel will go up to 140mm for ’09, without compromising and stiffness in the fork leg. Dual air models will be shipped at 140mm of travel, while models featuring Air U-turn technology can be adjusted from 140mm to 110mm. The forks will be available with either a standard quick release or a Maxle.

The Reba fork has undergone a major rework, now offering a brand new chassis which can cater for 29-inch wheels. Again, either a standard axle or a Maxle can be run, as can disk brakes. Travel has increased slightly, with 120mm now on offer and to shave the pounds a hollow crown features.

The hollow crown is forged of a proprietary AL66 TV material, providing light weight with increased stiffness and strength. Upper tubes are constructed from 32mm, 7000 series
straight wall aluminum tubes and then completed with a low friction anodized finish.

All Reba forks will feature a significantly revamped Dual Air system. Improvements are focused on further reducing friction, while providing a more linear spring rate. Dual Air gives riders the ability to independently adjustable positive and negative air spring chambers. The result is a very light and highly tunable spring system.
