EUROBIKE 2011: Charge Bikes last night hosted a celebration party at Eurobike for the website road.cc.

Road.cc celebrates its third birthday at Eurobike

Road.cc of Bath was launched from the back of a camper van in the Eurobike car park in 2008. The site was founded by ex-Future staffers Tony Farrelly and Dave Atkinson.

Among the six Road.cc staff on duty at Eurobike and celebrating at the site’s party last night were Jo Burt, creator of the legendary ‘Mint Sauce’ cartoon strip in MBUK, and TR McGowran who covers the cultural aspects of cycling and the urban scene.

Farrelly said: "Last night’s party made me appreciate how far road.cc has come in the three years since we launched it . Since day one we’ve had fantastic support from the industry."

He added: "Three years down the line we’ve still got loads more we want to do with the site; we’re building an online cycling community and we want to make road.cc something that road cyclists of every type would want to be a part of… the ‘cc’ bit in our name is not an affectation we’ve always said it stands for cycling club and we are now affiliated to British Cycling as a club but it also stands for cycling community and in the next three years that’s what we’re going to be building on."

Road.cc’s Google Analytics stats are now recording 260,000 unique visitors a month.

Atkinson said: "Our Eurobike coverage has sent visitor numbers through the roof. Daily visits have gone up another 25 percent this week and we’ve doubled our page views. We love Eurobike."
