Reid Bikes, in partnership with Windwave, has signed up to sponsor the retailer category at this year’s BikeBiz awards.
The awards, in association with Bikedesk, will be hosted on 16 October at the Button Factory in Birmingham.
Reid Bikes’ mission is ‘to make cycling and eMobility accessible to all’. They design and manufacture bikes, eBikes and electric scooters for international distribution under their own brand, Reid, as well as for eight private label product clients ranging from UK PLCs to direct to consumer brands in the US and UK and Australia’s largest bike speciality retail chain.

Earlier this month, Reid announced its new distribution partnership with Windwave for UK distribution. Windwave is an independent and award-winning distributor of bicycles and cycling components, based on the South Coast of England.
Established in 1987, Windwave has become one of the UK’s largest cycling distribution companies, representing a diverse portfolio of renowned international brands. Known for its extensive product range, efficient logistics, and strong focus on customer service and technical support, Windwave plays a crucial role in bringing quality cycling products to retailers and riders across the UK.
Retailer Category
This year, the retailers category has four awards: IBD of the year, Retailer Services, Omnichannel Retailer and Specialist Retailer.
INDEPENDENT BIKE DEALER (IBD) OF THE YEAR
This award celebrates excellence among Independent Bike Dealers (IBDs) across the UK. Nominations are open to any bricks-and-mortar bicycle retailers or businesses primarily involved in bicycle repair and servicing, operating with three stores or fewer.
BEST RETAILER SERVICES
This award recognises companies that provide outstanding services directly benefiting members of the cycling trade, particularly retailers. Nominations are open to businesses offering essential B2B services such as: staff training, EPOS and inventory management systems, bike fitting software, workshop solutions, marketing support, financial services, or other tools that enhance retailer operations and profitability.
OMNICHANNEL RETAILER OF THE YEAR
This award celebrates retailers who excel in providing a seamless and integrated shopping experience across multiple channels. Nominations are open to retailers who effectively combine a physical bricks-and-mortar presence (carrying bikes and/or offering cycle repair services) with a robust and competitive online store, offering a cohesive customer journey.
SPECIALIST RETAILER OF THE YEAR
This category is for retailers who excel in a focused or unique segment of the cycling industry. This includes, but is not limited to, businesses specialising in areas such as: e-bikes, cargo bikes, specific cycling disciplines (e.g., gravel, mountain biking, track), custom bike builds, adaptive cycling, high-end performance, vintage bikes, or bespoke accessories and apparel. It is designed for those who offer a deep level of expertise and a tailored product or service offering beyond a general bike shop.
