The deadline was meant to be 15th August.
However “overwhelming demand from the mountain biking community” has meant the deadline has been extended, said Race Face marketing coordinator, Marshall
Rutman.
The new deadline is January 15, 2002, so there’s still time to get customers involved.
"Many cross-country and downhill racers expressed their concern with the
timing of the contest," said Rutman.
"Their busy racing and promotion schedules simply didn’t allow them to put in the necessary time to assemble a video submission. We’ve extended the deadline past the prime racing season so now anyone who wants to enter can do so without taking the focus off their careers.
"We’ve been blown away by the quality of the videos we’ve received so far and would like to reward those riders who worked so hard to get their videos in to us before the original deadline. As a token of our appreciation, we’ll be sending each entrant a selected item from our brand new 2002 clothing line."
As a result of the extended deadline, the winner of the UFC – originally planned to be announced at the Interbike trade show in Las Vegas – will now
be crowned on March 21st, 2002 at the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey,
California.
The Ultimate Freeride Challenge calls for riders to submit a 60 second
riding video of themselves, doing whatever they feel best represents the
new school of freeriding. Race Face will pick the top 16 entries and post
them online in head to head battles with their online community picking the
winners.
