According to a report on the Bike Europe website (bike-eu.com) the OEM show Bike-on has been cancelled through lack of support

Plug pulled on OEM-only show

50 companies had expressed interest in the OEM-only show due to be staged 27th February – 2nd March 2001 in Frankfurt, Germany, but this wasnt enough at this stage in the shows planning.

Bike-on was cancelled because of the bike trades reticence, said Bernd Musing of Messe Frankfurt on www.bike-eu.com

"We met with dozens of companies who really liked the concept behind Bike-on. These companies stated that they would book a booth in the second year and not in the first. All of them preferred to check Bike-on out during its debut. That attitude killed Bike-on."

But, surely thats human nature? Youve got to speculate to accumulate. Why didnt Messe Frankfurt build in a loss for the first year and then aim to make the concept work for following years?
